1956 Gillig featured here - an error I should point out

hecko,

Before I begin, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Steven Rosenow (new member!), and owner of the largest resource of Gillig and Kenworth bus information on the web.

I hope to make a good home here as I'm a fellow bus nut (having owned two Gillig school buses in the past, I now own a 1966 Gillig Transit Coach school bus and a 1955 Kenworth-Pacific Schoolcoach school bus. Both buses are being fully restored, and I am in the process of buying a 1970 Gillig Transit Coach school bus for a possible restoration project in the future.

With that being said, I'd like to point out an error with the picture contained within this URL: http://www.oldbus.us/Gallery/TransitBuses/Gillig/tabid/68/Default.aspx

The bus in the picture is not a 1956 as captioned, and I'll explain. In 1956, Gillig had very narrow vertical dimensions for their windshield. The bus pictured here has the 86"x30" split-pane windshield, which debuted in 1959 during a moderate change in bodystyles to Gillig Bros.' Transit Coach school bus lineup.

The bus pictured is most likely a early-to-mid 60s Gillig, and it's most definitely a 743D-13 due to the full-width splash-guard behind the front mudflaps.

Just thought I'd point out that error I noticed, and I'm liking this site!

Hi Steve,

Welcome to Old Bus.  I am sorry for the slow reply.  Thanks for the correction on the Gillig.  I changed the information.

I am going to be making a lot of changes to the site, especially to the picture gallery.

Take care!
