So it was discussed that I need to get a P30 charsis for the updated running gear. I have been trying find specs on the P30, but have not found anything. Where can I find the wheelbase and track info for this charsis? Or maybe a P32? Is it correct that the P32 was updated from the P30 with disc brakes all the way around? What vehicles will I most likely find on a P30 or P32 charsis? I know this is a lot of questions, just very new to this arena. Thanks all.

Usually you find the P30 & p32 under motorhomes, setpvans and some of the minibirds. Here are some links to sites: http://www.walkinvan.com/chevy_p30_charsis_parts.htm, http://barthmobile.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3631087061/m/2371054371

Just do a search on P30 or P32 charsis

Thanks. Those are some good links. I guess I need to do some further measuring to see what the best fit would be. Also research on whether just keeping the charsis and updating the suspension would better or more cost effective. So I guess I have more studying to do. It's fun studying though.

So, would there be any other suggestions on which charsis I should look at? I find that the Chevy or GMC Extended cab longbed dually after 1988 has a wheelbase within 1" of what I need. Mine is 154 and the late model is 155. Would this be a viable option if I use a 1 ton truck? I just want the bus to ride nice and stop well.

Or would it be better to just switch out the suspension with newer stuff on the original frame?

The only thing about changing out the suspension is fabricating shock mounts, axle mounts, cross members etc... You have to check your frame rail width, You also have to watch where your front wheels will end up in your fender wells. Those are just a few things to consider. I am am looking into both ways as well and I haven't came up with a good answer yet. I want the same thing as well a good safe ride. What vehicle are you looking into swapping with? What is your wheelbase ?
