I am using a Chevy P30 chassis for the same purpose. You can find lowering kits for them and they are easy to find. The main thing you have to watch is frame rail spacing and axle spacing. but they are flat and easy to mate up to.

Wiring Question
I have a question i am using a EZ Wire 21 kit to rewire the bus. Would you guys splice the wires and run parallel circuits all the way to the back or use a terminal block and branch circuits?
