Ran Gruba's Rare 1946 Chevrolet COE Bus Restoration
Randall Gruba of Wisconson has a very rare project, indeed. So rare, in fact that he has had a difficult time trying to determine exactly just what he has.
In his persuit to find out, Randall first tried calling GM. "They told me that what I have is EXTREMELY RARE, and that no records were available. They told me to try GM Heritage."
Randall is is 99% sure his COE bus was made for the military (special order). "GM Heritage was tickled to see the pic's I sent them of the bus", says Randall. "The way it looks, 35 in all were made of the middle size bus, but GM Heritage is not even sure if thats what I have, since no one can find the size of the middle wheelbase not even them."
"There is no tags other than the 2 tags I pulled on the bus. One is from chevy, the other only has --- SB 7489 (line one),,, CHEVE (line two),,,, CAP 27 (line three),,,, 8 47 (line four)."
"They said they are going to keep lookin for info on it due to how neat it is. GM heritage said they keep ALOT of information on they're cars/trucks,,, but there's not much at all on mine period."
